Your files can reveal more than you expect. This policy explains what stays on your device, what the website needs to operate, and how to reach us about your information.
1. Who we are
MetaDelete is the online service at metadelete.com, operated by Metadelete, headquartered in India.
Our business address is B-4, Pragati Vihar Colony, Gole Ka Mandir, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India, 474005. For privacy questions or requests, email contact@metadelete.com. Metadelete is responsible for the personal information it handles in connection with this service.
2. Your files and private exports
Free metadata viewing happens in your browser. Creating an edited or private copy in the protected workspace uploads the selected file and your requested changes to MetaDelete for server processing. The workspace explains this before you confirm an export.
The upload is handled as a temporary request file and is discarded when processing ends. Successful output copies and before/after metadata reports are stored outside the public website folder under random identifiers. Downloads require your signed-in account and an active, non-revoked order. Links expire after one hour. Cleanup runs on a schedule and during use; removal may happen later when the site is inactive. Hosting backups may follow separate retention schedules.
We do not use your file content to train AI models or target advertising. A report may contain private details from the original, even when your new copy has selected fields removed. Copies you download stay on your device until you delete them.
3. Information used by the website
Loading a website still involves ordinary technical data. Our hosting and site services may process your IP address, requested pages, request time, browser and device information, referrer information where supplied, and security or error events. We use this information to deliver pages, keep the site working and investigate abuse or faults.
If you email us, we receive your email address, the content of your message and any attachments you choose to send. We use these to respond, investigate your request and maintain relevant support records. Please avoid sending private media or unnecessary personal details.
Payments are processed by Razorpay. Customer accounts and orders record account identifiers, billing/contact details, selected passes, payment references, expiry dates and usage counters. Payment credentials are entered into Razorpay checkout, rather than MetaDelete metadata forms. We do not ask you to send card credentials or bank passwords by email.
4. Country lookup and currency display
The pricing page suggests a currency from your approximate country. Where available, it uses a country hint from the hosting or delivery service. Otherwise, our server sends the visitor IP address to Country.is for a country-level lookup. This feature does not request your device’s precise location or access your media files.
Country results are cached for up to 12 hours for reuse, using a keyed hash of the IP address as the lookup key. The raw IP address is not stored in that currency cache, although it may still appear in ordinary hosting or security logs. An expired cache entry may remain in the database until routine cleanup.
We obtain exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API. Those requests come from our server and do not include your selected files, metadata or visitor IP address. Rates are normally cached for one day; a last available copy may be used for up to seven days if the service is unavailable.
5. Cookies, browser storage and fonts
If you choose a display currency, the pricing page saves that preference in your browser’s local storage under metadelete-currency. It stays there until you clear the site’s storage or your browser removes it. You can change the selected currency on the pricing page.
WordPress, hosting and performance services may use cookies or similar technical mechanisms for site operation, security, caching and administrator sessions. These are separate from the local media workspace. You can control cookies and site storage in your browser, although blocking them may affect some website features.
The design currently loads fonts from Google Fonts. Your browser connects to Google to obtain them and sends ordinary connection information, including its IP address. See Google’s privacy information. Optional marketing or tracking features that require consent must be explained before they are enabled.
6. How and why information is used or shared
We use relevant information to provide the service you request, answer enquiries, operate and secure the site, resolve complaints and meet applicable legal obligations. Where a privacy law requires a legal basis, these activities may rely on providing a requested service, legitimate interests in operating a secure service where those interests are not overridden by your rights, compliance with law, or consent where required.
Service providers may handle information needed for hosting, site administration, email delivery, security or the currency features described above. The website is hosted using Hostinger services; see Hostinger’s privacy information. These providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the required safeguards must be used.
We may disclose relevant information when legally required, to respond to a valid legal process, or to protect the service and people from fraud, abuse or harm. Sending a support message does not, by itself, sign you up for promotional email.
7. Retention and security
Different information has different retention needs. Local previews last for your browser session. Temporary server outputs and reports follow the processing and cleanup rules above. Account, order and usage records are retained as reasonably needed for access, support, fraud prevention, disputes and applicable record-keeping obligations. Saved currency preferences are controlled by your browser. Support records and technical logs are kept for as long as reasonably needed for their purpose, including handling a related complaint, security issue or legal obligation. We consider the sensitivity of the information, the reason it was collected and any applicable retention requirements when deciding what to retain.
We take reasonable steps to protect information handled by the service. No website, device or email system can promise absolute security. Keep original copies of important files, review exports, and avoid sending passwords, full card numbers or sensitive media by email.
8. Your choices and privacy requests
Depending on the laws that apply to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or obtain a copy of personal information we hold, restrict or object to certain uses, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Some information may need to be retained for a legal obligation or a legitimate unresolved matter.
Email contact@metadelete.com with “Privacy request” in the subject and explain what you need. We may ask for proportionate information to confirm your identity. We will respond within the period required by the law that applies to your request. You may also contact the relevant privacy regulator where that right is available.
Local viewing does not give us your file. Server exports handle the uploaded file and requested changes as described above. To remove local copies, use your device’s file controls. To clear the saved currency preference, clear this site’s local storage in your browser.
9. Children, other websites and policy updates
MetaDelete is not directed at children. A parent or guardian who believes a child has sent us personal information can contact us so we can review the situation and take appropriate action.
Links to social platforms and other services take you to websites with their own policies. This policy does not control their practices.
We may update this policy as the service changes. The date at the top shows the latest revision. Where a change requires a separate notice or consent under applicable law, we will provide it. Privacy questions can always be sent to contact@metadelete.com.
